Talis was commissioned by the Southern Ports Authority to undertake an investigation and design to upgrade the existing pavements of the Port Access Road and Berth 2 at Esperance Port. This work involved an assessment of the existing pavement conditions and recommendations for their rehabilitation.
The study involved calculating the traffic loading of the pavements, mostly from the heavy wheel loads of specialist port machinery and vehicles. Consideration was given to incorporating a stormwater drainage system to capture, for treatment and disposal, potentially contaminated runoff from the Berth 2 area. A design for a realignment of part of the access road was subsequently required together with the design of Berth 1 unloading facilities for containers and bulk woodchips. A design report, technical specification, bill of quantities and cost estimate were prepared for the project.
