Following the closure of the Onslow Landfill in 2015, the Shire of Ashburton began development of the Onslow Waste Transfer Station to manage waste collected from both the town and surrounding commercial development.
Talis Consultants was contracted by the Shire to administer all necessary consultancy services for the delivery of the waste transfer station. Our team worked alongside the Shire throughout the development process.
A site selection study was conducted to determine a preferred site for the new facility, utilising geospatial modelling of a variety of environmental, social and infrastructural constraints and opportunities. Following the study a full suite of documentation was prepared as a prerequisite to obtaining project, planning and environmental approval prior to the commencement of construction.
Talis led the design team in the creation of physical plans, including the rendering of 3D modelling and associated documentation and subsequently managed the tender process for the construction phase. Talis continued to provide design and contact administration support to the Shire project team during the delivery of the construction phase.
The Shire of Ashburton is in the process of establishing a new regional waste management facility in Onslow, Western Australia.
The project is well underway, with an indicated completion by late 2019.
